Latest Update 01st January 2012
Happy New Year Everyone! We wish you a very happy 2012 and hope you all had a lovely evening. We had a great party at the Coronas last night. Things started off with a lovely dinner in the restaurant as always and then everyone rushed down to get their seats in the pavilion. By the time we were ready to open the doors at 8pm there was a massive queue of people waiting to get in. We met them at the door with their first glass of champagne of the night and everyone got a party bag filled with balloons, plastic noses, party hats and hooters (imagine the noise in the pavilion when everyone blew their hooter!). Gemma and Barry started the evening off with a battle of the sexes game which of course the women won. In honesty I think the fellas conceded when they decided against doing the "Birdy Dance", can't say I blame them. Then at nine o'clock we went on for our first set of the night. I always love playing on New Year's Eve as everyone wants to dance, and you all know that I like nothing better than a full dance floor! He he he. At 10 o'clock Waterloo (a fab tribute to Abba) took to the stage and then we went back on at 11.15 to dance the place up to midnight. Here in Spain there is the tradition of the grapes. For those of you that haven't done it yet: everyone is given a little packet of 12 grapes, and as the chimes strike you eat one grape. So that's 12 grapes and twelve chimes. The grapes represent good luck in the coming year, so if you eat all 12 it means that you'll have a whole year of good luck. If you eat 11 then you'll have 11 months of good luck, and so on and so forth. It's great fun watching everyone cramming grapes into their mouths. That went down without a hitch, we all did "Auld Lang Syne" there was the usual kissing frenzy and then we carried on with the dancing. By 12.40 I'd sung myself hoarse and we finally handed over to Borja, our sound and light technician, who took over with a disco until the last guest dropped at around 2am. It was an earlier finish that usual, but that was because it's departure day today and lots of people left to go home, so they would have had an early start and so needed an early night. But it was a great night and everyone really enjoyed themselves. Tonight is our night off, so we're just gonna put on the telly and vegetate, Can't wait! I hope you all had a great time too, and Lez & I wish you all the best in 2012. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
